En 1981 la UNCTAD recibió una solicitud de la secretaría de la Comunidad Económica de Estados de Africa Occidental (CEDEAO) para ayudar en la recopilación de resultados estadísticos sobre el comercio exterior de sus estados miembros. Un estudio preliminar hizo ver que la mejor solución era involucrar las Aduanas y modernizar los procedimientos de desaduanamiento, para garantizar unos resultados estadísticos fiables.

Jordanian Customs delegation signs "Strengthening the implementation of e-customs" project
Senior officials from the Jordanian customs department visit UNCTAD headquarters in Geneva for consultation regarding the "Regional network customs center", and to sign a new "Strengthening the implementation of e-customs" project.

UNCTAD supports implementation of
m-Government Programme in Gibraltar
On 1st May 2012, Mr. John Rodriguez, Director General of H.M. Customs Department Gibraltar (right) and Mr. Vitali Rousak, Head of BPFS of UNCTAD (middle), signed an addendum to the ASYCUDAWorld Project in the presence of Mr. Fabrice Millet, Coordinator of the ASYCUDA Programme.
In the framework of the m-Government Programme, UNCTAD will provide appropriate technical assistance and support for data harmonization, document simplification, business process reengineering and implementation of a series of Single Window components in Gibraltar, e.g. full electronic payments, electronic trade licenses, paperless environment for all cross-border-regulatory agencies etc.

UNCTAD's ASYCUDA Programme involved in four new ASYCUDA World projects
