AFGHANISTAN - ASYCUDA Transit operational between Weesh - Kandahar - Kabul
The implementation of ASYCUDA Transit ensures a significant improvement of the control, tracing and monitoring of all cargos entering Afghanistan. The reduction of cargos unreported to Customs will result in Customs revenue increase. 95% of the total goods imported in Afghanistan is now processed through the ASYCUDA system.
The implementation of ASYCUDA Transit in this region was achieved trough the continuous efforts of the ASYCUDA team supported by the Customs senior management, including the Kandahar and Weesh Customs Directors, as well as UNOPS support team.
(Attached the first ASYCUDA T1 transit declaration produced in Weesh).

Nadi Airport is dealing with 90% of the Air Cargo in Fiji Islands and 12 operators are providing electronic Manifest to Nadi Customs. This successful implementation should be followed by the 2 other major ports: Lautoka (Sea Cargo) on the 1st September 2003 and Suva (Sea and Air Cargo) on the 1st October 2003.

Chittagong Custom House, in conjunction with the Chittagong C&F Agents Association, commenced operations of a direct trader input facility. The facility equipped, managed and staffed by the C&F Agents association will in its first phase capture Export declarations prior to submission at the Customs House. This initiative will reduce the waiting time on declaration data-entry for Agents and contribute to the implementation of a closed environment for Customs. The facility will be expanded in the coming months to cover Bond and Import declarations.

AFGHANISTAN - Implementation of ASYCUDA++ Transit System in Torghondi Customs Office (border with Turkmenistan)
The Customs staff and the Customs brokers operating in the Toghundi Customs Office have been provided with the Basic IT Training. The training courses have been organised in the premises of the Herat Customs House.
On 3 September, the ASYCUDA++ User Training Course has started.

The ASYCUDAWorld Project Team of the Georgian State Revenue Service (SRS) participated in the ASYCUDAWorld technology, technical and functional training courses organised by UNCTAD in its training premises in Geneva.
This core team will continue the joint work with the UNCTAD team to complete the SRS ASYCUDAWorld prototype in the shortest possible time frame.
